ABOUT THE PROJECT
Welcome to CarMax Park! The multi-use entertainment venue slated to open in 2026 will be the new home of Minor League Baseball’s Richmond Flying Squirrels in addition to hundreds of events year-round. A cornerstone of the new Diamond District development, CarMax Park will be uniquely Richmond in its design, with nods to the city’s history blended with modern, state-of-the-art amenities. With an abundance of social experiences and family-friendly spaces, there will be something for everyone at CarMax Park.
A YEAR ROUND VENUE
More than a baseball stadium, CarMax Park will be a year-round venue hosting concerts, festivals and community events. With several climate-controlled, indoor spaces, the facility will provide a unique destination for conferences, weddings and proms. Additional amenities will offer unique opportunities for team-building events and social gatherings on game and non-game days alike. CarMax Park will be a place for kids to play even when the team is away, with opportunities to open parts of the ballpark during non-event hours.

frequently asked questions
Where will CarMax Park be located?
CarMax Park will be built in the open space across Avenue of Champions from the Blue Lot, which was formerly the site of a city maintenance facility.
What will be the capacity of CarMax Park?
The exact number of fixed seats is still to be determined, but overall capacity is expected to be similar to the current capacity at The Diamond.
What are some of the features of CarMax Park?
CarMax Park will feature a 360-degree, wrap-around concourse with distinct experiences and vantage points located throughout, highlighted by a field-level dugout suite that will put fans in closer proximity to home plate than the opposing team. Group and social spaces will span the outfield and include a multi-tiered beer garden – emblematic of neighboring Scott's Addition – in left field and a kids’ zone with adjacent terraced outfield lawn seating in right-center field. The venue will also offer fans several climate-controlled, indoor spaces as well as 20 luxury suites and a corner party suite showcasing views of the downtown Richmond skyline. The playing field will be sunken down so that the main concourse and entrances to the ballpark will be slightly above street level. The facility will also provide a unique destination for conferences, banquets, weddings, and many other functions in addition to Flying Squirrels home games.
Will prices go up at CarMax Park?
Ticket pricing for CarMax Park has not been set yet, but the Flying Squirrels remain committed to keeping games an affordable, FUNN family entertainment option for all.

What will happen to The Diamond once CarMax Park opens?
The Diamond will be razed, and the site will be redeveloped as part of the Diamond District. There will be an opportunity to transfer some of the recent upgrades made at The Diamond to the new ballpark.
